A Captivating Day in Cochise Stronghold
The local single-pitch crag has been treating you well, but there are these photos you've seen of long, enduring routes in beautiful landscapes. Specifically, towering domes emerging out of Southern Arizona's gorgeous grasslands. Welcome to Cochise Stronghold, located in the Dragoon Mountains and ancestorial lands of the Chiricahua Apache and O'odham Jewed.
Our two-day Multi-Pitch Climbing Guided Trip in Cochise Stronghold is designed for those who have already had the opportunity to climb outdoors in the single-pitch environment. This can be with GMG or on your own recreationally. Due to the nature of this remote Southern Arizona landscape, we work extensively with our guests to ensure that they are well-prepared and set up for success! Many of the routes in this area are over 4 pitches in length, which often equates to over 400 ft. tall. Occasionally, routes may be more than 750ft. in length!
Whether you are familiar with Sport Climbing or Traditional Climbing, this Trip can be tailored to suit your goals. It is all-encompassing and starts off with a casual day out with your Guide on Day 1 to become further acquantied with eachother and review fundamental skills for the mutli-pitch environment. Then it focuses on efficient multi-pitch techniques and stance management. A smaller multi-pitch climb will be accomplished on this day with some single-pitch climbing too. Day 2 will be the adventure you have set out to accomplish! Working with your Guide you will have set expectations for this day and which areas or routes you would like to climb.
Both days are considered extended full-days and will often require an above-moderate level of fitness, depending on your objective(s). It is strongly advised that guests come prepared to camp in the area for several nights.
This Guided Trip does not include instruction on how to lead climb or place traditional gear. If you wish to learn the skills of placing traditional gear or lead climbing, please look at our Instructional Course options available.
